When parking your luxury automobile, be sure to close the sunroof. Especially in the spring, and when the weather calls for rain. Poor bastard.

Oh God I would stick around just to see the reaction!

I would have, but I was too lazy to wait in the rain. If I had noticed it on my way to the store when it wasn't raining, I would have gone to the front desk of the building to get someone to tell the guy. Sadly, I only noticed on my way home.

That's why the dual mode on my Benz is nice. Tilt to let hot air out, but keeps rain out.

how does he not have rain sensing moonroof? My E90 328i has it although I really don't trust it at all

Did that feature come with the E60 528i? And if it does, then this would confirm your suspicions of not trusting it.

Fair enough. I've been in a lot of semi-recent cars that didn't, but tastes change. I don't think most did in October of '86, either - mfr. date on me old faithful.

This brings back memories of accidentally leaving the top down in my Jeep, or leaving it at home on a trip out. Soaked, cold, and shivering down the freeway. Not fun.

It's an '87 W124 300D. First year of the body style in the E-type, though the similar-looking S-class came out a year earlier.
My Land Rover doesn't have a sunroof, but has a special variation of the roof called a "safari roof". Sheet of aluminum over the top giving an air gap, and four vents that open into that gap.

the W124 E series and W126 S series may go down in history as the pinnacle of Mercedes-Benz. The subsequent W140 S-Class was a big bruiser, but at that point, a lot of the biodegradable stuff started appearing in the engineering. Everything MB has made since has felt lacking. hell, Mt. Everest feels less sturdy than a W124/W126 Benz.

I'm assuming it did. My E90 isn't really "fully loaded" yet I still have automatic headlights, rain sensing windshield (works great), and supposedly rain sensing moonroof. I never really leave my sunroof open when I park, I have left it vented though.
